Toyota Repair: axle seal, brake shoes, mechanical knowledge

22 R 1986 automatic 4x4  4 runner passenger rear side axle is leaking a lot would it be wise to try and fix it,or would it be better to take it to a shop, or find a scrap rear end from a junk yard

The most inexpensive way would be to replace the axle seal and it will also probably need the brake shoes replaced because oil got on them. This is a lot of work so unless you have tools and some mechanical knowledge I would recommend having a repair shop do this, it may also be necessary to replace the axle bearing at the same time.
