Toyota Repair: 2007 Camry Strut leakage and oil usage, 2007 camry xle, care warranty

Question
I purchased a 2007 Camry XLE V4 new and have 32000 miles.  I recently purchased new tires and was told by the tire store that 3 of my struts had some leakage at the top and needed to be replaced.  They told me to go to my dealer since my car is still under warranty.  The Toyota service manager told me that he checked the struts and the amount of moisture at the top of the struts is normal and that they do not need to be replaced. I spoke with my salesman and he told me that if I was worried that they may need replacing after my warranty runs out that I should buy the extended warranty for $1,000.00. My car also uses close to a quart of oil every 3,000 miles which they told me is common for the Camry. Please advise if this sounds right or if I should pursue this further.  Thank you in advance.

Answer
Toyota did issue a service bulletin which they should have shown to you, this bulletin addresses the criteria for strut replacement, some moisture at the top of the struts is indeed considered normal and about 90% of the time this is the case, so I would have to agree with the dealers asessment. Toyota considers the use of one quart in 1,000 miles normal oil consumption.Toyota's struts normally last close to 100,000 and more so don't buy that warranty just for that reason and by the way, that extra care warranty they want to sell you is only good to 100,000 miles.
