Question
Our antenna will not retract all the way down, and upon turning the car on, you hear a clicking noise until it extends fully.  How do you replace the antenna?


Answer
The antenna mast itself can be replaced, it's available at the toyota dealer, remove the chrome nut on top and turn the radio on, the mast will feed out,if your'e lucky the mast will come out in one piece, if not then you will notice that a piece is still stuck in the antenna motor, this can be verified by checking the length of the old mast against the new one. To feed the new mast in, turn the radio on while feeding the mast in making sure that the teeth engage the gear and pull it in, if the broken piece is still in there the entire motor has to be removed and taken apart to get the piece out.
