Toyota Repair: Temperature Gauge, camry xle, upper radiator hose

Question
Ted:  I have a 1998 Camry XLE, V-6 with 106,000 miles on it.  Timing belt and water pump were replaced in Jan 09.  The temperature gauge is pegged at the bottom (not registering).  The car is not overheating and is running good as usual.  The heater blows hot air and the AC works good. What could this be? And can I fix it myself?  Check light is not on.

Answer
Check to see if the temperature sender is connected, it's located near where the upper radiator hose enters the engine, it has a connector with one wire on it, if it is connected disconnect it and ground the wire out with the key on, the gauge should move up, if it doesn't then the gauge is the problem, if it moves replace the sender unit.
