Saab Repair: display panel issues, reservoir mechanics, panel button

I have a 1996 900S convertible.  the dislay panel has a lot of issues. Sometimes when I press the black panel button it not only turns off the panel but also the fuel, temp and tach.  the panel flashes randomly and changes from temp to DTE or MPG.  Sometimes with the car off the panel flashes light but no words.  I don't know if this is a typical problem that you may know where to look for a short or if you may have some idea what I cando to correct this problem.  I also have a low coolant warning all the time although there is plenty of coolant in the reservoir.  Mechanics have looked at it and can not figure out what is wrong with it.

Sounds like an internal problem within the panel itself. Maybe pick up a used one somewhere? Normally the low coolant message is due to a bad sensor in the coolant bottle. But since you are having issues with the display I don't know if you can trust what it says. I'd get the panel issue handle first.
