Toyota Repair: my 89 toyota camry wont start, toyota camry, starter motor

Hi there i have just purchased an 89 toyota camry station wagon.It was going fine,but now i turn the key and it wont start,not even turn over.it has a new battery and i think the starter motor is making a slight whining noise?id be very greatful if you could point me in the rite direction

It would really help if I knew what engine and miles are on the vehicle.
Sounds like the starter is acting up. Have someone tap on the starter
with a hammer while you hold the key on, it should start then, if it does you know its the starter. Most of the time its the silenoid on the starter and all it needs is a cleaning.
