BMW Repair: 1998 740il electronics gone mad, wow heres, exercism

Weird thing happened yesterday morning. I noticed the cruise control wasn't working in my 98 740il, also noticed the radio controls on the steering wheel also did not work, but the controlls on the radio worked fine. Leaving work the radio would not come on but the clock was still present. Everything seemed to work on the unit itself but the radio, I could even bring up the distanced traveled speed and all the other functions. Have you ever seen this before or have an ideas?

wow. heres more info. now the airbag light comes on. when i push the horn the airbag light goes off and radio light goes out. when i open the sunvisor(passenger or driver) mirror the steering wheel goes up. The rear window shade does not work. turn the head lights on and the radio clock goes out. Do i need to perform an exercism?

The good news is this is weird enough, and prevelant enough, that it is likely something big and simple.  But it is a dealer job.

Some of it sounds ignition switch, but some of it definitely doesn't.  Steering wheel controls don't.  Rear window shade could.  Headlights vs. radio clock doesn't. Horn vs. airbag light doesn't.

Glad if that fixed it, but doesn't track well.
