Toyota Repair: replacing fuel injector 98 toyota avalon, toyota avalon, diagnostic fee

Question
Diagnostics say I have a bad fuel injector according to independent repair shop. I asked for Diagnostic number but they couldn't provide the exact number. What options would you suggest. Do I have to pay for another diagnostic evaluation. How difficult would it be to replace fuel injector myself if that turns out to be the problem, Thanks

Answer
I would advise getting another opinion, preferably the toyota dealer before going and replacing expensive parts, pay the dealer the diagnostic fee and get the trouble code numbers, see what they recommend or post a follow up letting me know what they find. I assume that there is an engine misfire, even though it could be the injector there have also been lots of problems with the ignition coil packs. By the way when you get the trouble codes from the dealer get the freeze frame data as well, they should give you a printout, this informnation will help if you have to contact me.
