Toyota Repair: 97 Toyota Corolla Ignition Problems!!, haynes manual, toyota corolla

Question
On my 97 Corolla (no tilt, sedan) the key would not turn to the ACC position, but would turn just enough to unlock the steering wheel, no further. I had the lock cylinder drilled out by a mechanic and have since then put a new cylinder in. To my dismay, I now cannot get the key to turn past ACC to lock, so now when I stop the car I either have to disconnect the battery or take the cylinder out and turn the tab inside the column that would usually go into the back of the ignition cylinder.
Using a pair of needle nose, reaching into the housing and grabbing that tab, I can turn the ignition off after playing with it for a minute, but not with the key in it.
So, first off what is that part that is behind the cylinder lock? Can it be replaced as a single part??
Secondly, what can I do about this?
Help! My GF is mad at me....
Thanks

Answer
I don't know why anyone would drill out
a ignition lock. The simplest thing would
have been to replace the cylinder!
Who knows what he damaged.
That can be replaced, that probably what
was wrong in the first place !!!!
Get a Chilton's or Haynes manual from your
local library or auto parts store. It will
show in detail the removal process.
