Toyota Repair: oil consumption / catalytic converter, toyota celica gt, toyota celica

Question
I have a 2000 Toyota Celica GT with 145,000 miles. The car was purchased used with 135,000 miles.  The catalytic converter was replaced by Toyota at 138,000 miles.  The car uses a fair amount of oil (1 quart every 800-900 miles).  There is no visible smoke from burning oil and no leakage visible underneath the car.  Will this burning oil significantly shorten the life of the new catalytic converter?  How long should I expect the new coverter to last?  How significant is my oil problem -- might it be worth repairing or should I be planning to sell/trade before too long?

Answer
Will,
that's probably why they sold the car.
If it absolutely is not leaking oil then its
burning it. The only way you would see any smoke
from the back is have someone rev the engine
up and down several times while you stand at the
back of the car, or have someone follow you while
your driving and coast down a long hill and then
accelerate at the bottom. I have no idea how
long it will last especially if the car starts
going through more oil.
