Toyota Repair: 2001 Tacoma idle problem, foot on the gas, trouble code

2001 toyota tacoma v-6 engine. I was driving down the road let off of the gas and the engine shut off. Pulled over and set there a couple of minutes and the engine restarted and as soon as i let off the gas pedal shut off again, started back up and made it to my destination by keeping the engine idled up. Shut it off and restarted it several times and ran fine no missing or anything as long as it was kept idled up. I had to drive with one foot on the gas pedal and one foot to break or it would die out. Check engine light was on the first time it shut off but went out and didn't come back on after the truck restarted the first time.

Since the engine light did come on there is still a diagnostic trouble code in the computer even though the light is not on now, can you have the trouble codes retreived and let me know what they are? Most of the larger autoparts stores like autozone will get the codes at no charge to you.
