Toyota Repair: RE: Toyota vienta 1996 over heating, toyota vienta, electric fan

Question
RE: Toyota vienta 1996 over heating.
Hi Ted, I recently bought a toyota Vienta 1996 V6. The car runs good however on occassions (once a month) it suddenly overheats if it is a warm day and I travel for a while (30 km Plus). Mechanics I have seen to date cannot identify the problem as all seems to be working well. I have been told that it has only 1 fan that runs on oil pressure... Any ideas on what is causing the over heating? It also oveheats when the a/c is turned on.

Answer
The cooling fan should run at full speed when the engine is hot, there is an auxillary electric fan that turns on when the a/c is turned on. Since it seems to overheat whiloe driving on the road it's possible that the radiator may be restricted, if it was a fan problem then it would overheat while idling, replacing the radiator on the thermostat mey solve this or you can just try replacing the thermostat first and see if there is an improvement.
