Toyota Repair: toyota sienna 2001 V6, gas shocks, costly problem

Question
the back trunk lid will not stay in the 'up' position. This makes it very difficult to load groceries...:-) Is this a difficult or costly problem to solve?

thanks

Answer
New door struts can be expensive. They are basically little gas shocks that hold the door in the up position. If you plan on keeping the car for quite a bit longer, you might consider replacing them. If not, just use a board to prop the door open.
