Toyota Repair: scion tc auto to manuel, scion tc, standard transmission

I have an automatic scion tc, I want to change it to a manual do I have to mess with my car's computer while doing this, a guy told me that i would have to change it because the settings are different, so would i have to buy a new computer for my car or would the shop that changes it be able to just change the settings?

Sorry I don't get into engine or transmission swaps or modifications,
It always causes a lot of headaches. The ECM/PCM (computer)
is set up from the factory for that specific car engine, transmission and options. You will void any warranty you might have on the vehicle. I suggest a lot easier option; sell the car and buy one
with a standard transmission.
