RV Repair: Dometic RV Refrigerator, rv refrigerator, dometic refrigerator

Question
Hello, We have a 1998 Cardinal with a Dometic refrigerator that had quit this past week. The electrical outlet it is plugged into looks like it had gotten hot. The electrical socket is fine and has been tested, but the electric side of the refrigerator is inoperable. The gas function does work. The 3amp and 5amp fuses appear to be intact. Anything else I can test? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Kolby:
My guess is that there is a short in the electric heat coil. It is located in the heat tube at the right side outside under the cover. Take the two wires off the control board and check it with an ohm meter both for continuity and a short to ground. You should get a reading of 20-40 ohms across the two wires and an open circuit to ground. Good luck.
