Toyota Repair: transmision, reputable repair shop, dipstick tube

I just purchased a 2000 Camry with 84k miles my question if I should change the trans. fluid one of my friend told me I could ruin the trans. changing the fluid with so many miles.

Changing the transmission fluid and filter WILL HELP the transmission if done properly. Having a quick oil change place suck the fluid out through the dipstick tube or doing a transmission flush well likely cause more problems - DO NOT have this done no matter what they tell you.
In addition, I've seen where some young guy working in those
places are in a hurry and they under or overfill the fluid which is
dangerous. ONLY have this done a local reputable repair shop or Toyota
dealership.
