QUESTION: Recently my 94 toyota camry has had very weak power steering. It will turn fine for a few degrees but then when i turn the wheel a little more it gets significantly harder to turn. Once I turn the wheel a little more it gets easier. This will happen through out the ride and is random not only when turning in a certain direction. The reservoir is full. Another thing is the steering does not make any noise when i turn it. I looked at the ground nothing seems to be leaking. I was wondering if i should bleed it as if any air has gotten into the system, if the belt is loose or needs to be replaced or if the pump needs to be replaced.

Answer
There is no actual bleeding procedure, other than turning the steering wheel all the way left and right a few times with the engine running, this will remove any air which may be in the system. It's very common for a lose power steering belt to cause this, the pump would be the least likely but there could be a control valve problem inside the steering rack which would require replacing the steering gear assembly.
