Toyota Repair: 1992 Toyota Truck 2 wd cutting out, air intake hose, hose clamps

Question
We have a 1992 2wd Toyota Truck that is cutting out so bad that we barely made it home.  We replaced the fuel pump and wondered what other possible problems it could be experiencing since we dont have the money to take it to the repair shop.  My husband had always done all the repairs himself and it has been running great but we don't know what else it could be.  Please help

Answer
Pauline,
This could be ONE of several different things. For me to intelligently solve this problem I will need more information and we might have to correspond a few times. If I was at the vehicle I could pinpoint it immediately, unfortunately we don't have that luxury.

I need to know what engine it is, how many miles and honestly
how many miles ago and how long ago there was a tune up.

There are exceptions, BUT fuel pumps don't go bad on Toyota's.

First,Make sure the rubber air intake hose clamps are all secure and
there are no cracks in it.
It sounds like it might be an electrical problem in the primary
or secondary circuit. I would first pull all the plugs and inspect
them, if they are in reasonable condition, then closely inspect each
ignition wire and boot for cracks. If these are all good I would next
remove the distributor cap and closely inspect the cap and rotor.
(If the ignition module was bad the vehicle wouldn't run).
