Toyota Repair: toyota avalon 99, power steering rack, toyota avalon

Question
My 1999 Avalon makes a small noise once in awhile when I turn the wheel. It
also jerks a little when I turn the wheel. Not smooth like it once was. The fluid is
more brown then red and it is full. Is my pump going out and is there something
else that could be wrong?

Answer
If the reservoir is full and you do not have to add fluid then it may be necessary to replace the power steering rack unit but before doing so I would recommend having the fluid flushed using a fluid exchange machine to see if there is an improvement.
