Toyota Repair: Oil pressure light, low oil pressure, 2 quarts

Question
I have a 93 Camry LE with an slow oil leak in one of the timing belt seals. I keep an eye on the oil and add a little when low about every 400-800 miles. The oil pressure light just started to blink on and then stay on after warming up but when I check the oil level its full.  I do most of the work myself. Hoping it is just a faulty pressure sensor. Any suggestions?

Answer
Jennifer,
That light on is not good, it means the oil pressure is low. This is caused by running the vehicle low on oil, with no oil the main  bearings wear and causes low oil pressure.
If its a 4 cylinder they only hold 3 1/2 quarts so if the oil gets down 2 quarts, theres only 1 1/2 quart left. There are no timing belt seals. The oil leaking (its common) is from the crank seal and or the oil pump seal. Whenever I replace the timing belt I change these seals.
