Toyota Repair: Car shaking after replacing engine mounts, credibility issues, toyota camry

Question
Hi Ted

I hope you can help!

We have a 1995 Toyota Camry CSi 4Cyl Auto. We recently had the engine mounts replaced because the car was shaking whilst driving. The problem was mainly at 2k revs.

Since they replaced the engine mounts, when we turn the car on it seems to jump a lot and also if the car is in park and we are stopped at the lights, the car shakes enormously.

We have contacted our mechanics and they advised me that this was normal as they had used aftermarket mounts which are some what stiffer than the originals.

Can you please verify if this is the case or whether the problem is pointing to another part of the car requiring changing?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Answer
I seriously doubt that this is "normal" whether OEM mounts are used or aftermarket there should be almost no vibration felt inside the passenger compartment especially at idle, there is still something wrong, don't deal with the shop that replaced the mounts anymore because there seem to be some credibility issues, try to have the toyota dealer look at this or at least another repair shop
