Toyota Repair: 1995 toyota 4x4 3.0 v-6 cylinder head problems, head gasket problem, toyota 4x4

Question
I am looking at a Toyota 4x4 that needs some love. I am getting it for a labor barter exchange. The motor has 50lbs of compression on #4 piston. It wont pass smog. It idles rough at first but smoothes out after it warms up. Does it sound like a valve problem or a head gasket problem to you .Please hit me back on your idea of the problem. thank you for your input.

Answer
Stephen,
I have no idea how many miles are on this vehicle or WHAT model it is, if I did it would help evaluate the situation ! I would advise you to walk away from it.
There is a reason the other person didn't have it repaired. A 14 year old vehicle is NOT worth putting all the money into it.
This could be a head gasket issue which both sides must be replaced, if its a head/valve then both heads should be redone including gaskets. My advice stay away, people always think those vehicles, a
4-runner or truck are worth twice as much as they really are!!
