Toyota Repair: KZTE 2x4 manual gearbox noise, mile powertrain warranty, recon gearbox

Question
I've recently taken my 2004 3.0 KZTE hilux to Toyota to have a noise in the gearbox fixed. When the vehicle is cold and has stood for a while the change from 1st to second is noisy and very rough. You can feel it through the gear lever. It doesn't change smoothly until you have driven a couple of km's. The price Toyota quoted me to fix it was double of what a recon gearbox would cost. (R15500). Toyota has replaced the gearbox with a recon-gearbox and it is doing the same thing as the original. ti has been back three times and each time they come up with a different fix which does not solve the problem. First they said it was the alignment of the gearbox. Then is was a washer missing on the gear lever which was causing the problem with the gear change. Now they tell me that it is normal but it never did it before and if it was normal why were they quoting me R15500 to fix it. They have now put in some very expensive gearbox oil that needs 500km's to work in and then the problem is supposed to be fixed. I think this is a load of #$@#%#^@. Please can you help with possible solutions? it only does it when it has stood for a while and then only for the first couple of km's.

Answer
This is definetely not a normal condition, noise in the gearbox is usually due to a failing part or worn bearing, I think they should diagnose the problem and maybe replace the transmission again, I don't know where you live but I think that Toyota's 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty is still in effect unless it's over the mileage or KM limit. I don't believe the story about the gear oil either, they are just buying time to get you off their back for awhile.
