Motorcycle Repair: 73 Honda 350 / clutch, small screws, honda 350

Question
How can I tighten the gearshift so that it won't loosen? I just bought this bike and trying to ride! Also, (replacing starter) Do I just unscrew and replace? Bolts are in there so tight! how can I loosen w/out stripping?

Answer
Hi David,

you may have to hacksaw a tiny bit of the
metal out of the center of the shift lever
slot so it will tighten up better on the
shift shaft. The only other
way is to replace the shaft and lever.

The starter is removed by taking off
the left engine cover and rotor.
Then the starter gears can be removed
and then the starter mounting bolts.
The rotor requires a puller (bolt) to
remove it. The small screws on the starter
only hold the starter together.
They are very tight and require an
impact driver tool.

Good luck,
Wayne S.
