Toyota Repair: tacoma that chugs, o2 sensors, tacoma 4x4

Question
Tim -

I just bought a 2000 Tacoma, 4x4, 2.7L with 170k miles.  The truck chugs when accelerating up hills or cruising at interstate speeds.  The person I purchased the Tacoma from said he replaced the MAF and maybe O2 sensors (I take it that he did this himself).  Apparently, the check engine light was on and that's why he changed the sensors.  He said it didn't chug prior to that.  What can I do to get the chugging to stop?  Is it simply a matter of taking it in to a Toyota repair center to have the sensors properly installed?  Or could this be something else?

Answer
Brad,
With that many miles it could be a lot of different things.
Make sure the wires are hooked up properly to those sensors.
Also make sure those wires aren't laying up against ground
like the engine block or exhaust.
Pull the plugs and inspect them. In addition,
check the ignition wires for cracks(jumping to ground).
Open the hood while the truck is running at night and
watch for spark jumping to ground by the ignition wires.

Good luck,

Tim
