Motorcycle Repair: 1974 1000 sportster with a low rider front end, dual tanks, change gears

Question
1974 sportster 1000 with lowrider frontend /raked?. The frame drags the ground only like 1.5" clearance. has dual tanks center speedo on tanks,At the rear kunkle there seems to be 2 small ajustments but only would gain 1/4",the rear fender sets back to far because of the single dual spring seat's need for clearance for the springs.the seat and rear set very low/almost too low. The front wheel is 5 spoke mag ,but the rear is wire wheel. bought it this way do you have any suggestion. also the shifter is on the right side of the bike and somthing seems to be broke because it's just slack and won't change gears is there a sketch of the interior of this transmission some where on the net that I can download so I can know whats going to fly out when I remove the cover? thanks WGCASH

Answer
I think the first part of your question is you want to know how to raise the bike up.
First, check the rear shock length. To raise the rear you can add longer shocks. To raise the front end you would either lose the rake or add longer forks.
As to the shifter, I dont know of anyplace on the web you can get a diagram. You can order a repair manual for your bike however. Any shop that sells Tedds V-twin products can get a manual for you.
Happy new year
