Toyota Repair: Getting ripped off? on clutch repair????, toyota solara, clutch repair

Question
1999 Toyota Solara V6 5 speed (4+OD) manuel and being 2 makes via dealer info this is the North American model... which has an "ACCUMULATOR" with the clutch... cost about $265. to repace (P & L). BUT NOW (which maybe true) they say car needs a clutch job (clutch kit/resurface something/etc... and not either of 2 cylinders (slav/master?) just clutch stuff and be about 800 (EIGHT HUNDRED) TOTAL (P/L tax) Said like 6.5 hrs labor plus clutch kit (german/slayer? schaz? starts w "s" and guess new... said rebuilt kits well ware out soon.
SO is price fair? Labor 6.5 hrs fair? Im stuck here as u know (traveling). Is this seperate job from ACCUMULATOR" job... im looking at almost 1100$ car cost 4200 and put 1000$ in tune up/valve job/timeing belt/fluids flush n replaced)!!!!  HELP what shd I do. BIG Q: if it is slipping and rpms go up faster when shiffting... if I baby it how best to drive it to get HOME from IOWA to CA! IDEAS??? ANSWERS??? and ur in my prayers tonight and thanks for ur good service to humanity. (oh the metal seal in the accumuliator broke basically...why replaced part only on this clutch/model).

Answer
$800 sounds very resonable for parts and labor, 6.5hr labor is less than the dealers chargers in CA. it's usually at least 8.0. I'm not sure what the accumulator is that you mention, if the clutch is slipping I don't think it's a good idea to try to drive it that far, I don't think it will make it, there are many mountain passes between where you are and california, the clutch probably fail going up a grade.
