Toyota Repair: 94 Toyota Camry suddenly downshifts, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
Hi, I have a 94 Toyota Camry automatic V6 with about 170K miles.  A few months ago, I noticed that at high speeds it occasionally would spontaneously downshift, then correct itself. It is now worse, doing this more often and at lower speeds as well. Last weekend it did this when I was doing about 75MPH on the freeway, at that instance the engine light clicked on and the overdrive light started flashing.  The transmission fluid looks fine to me.  We also went to a garage to run a diagnostic with the following results: “Mass air flow sensor, air temp sensor, cir. A, secondary.”  Could any of these sensors be responsible for the spontaneous down-shifting, or are my symptoms indicative of a more serious transmission problem?  Thanks for your help!

Answer
The MAF, AIT sensor codes are not related to transmission issues, if the O/D light is flashing the computer needs to be checked for transmission trouble codes, this light flashing indicates that there is a problem with the transmission or it's control circuits or solenoids.
