Toyota Repair: hard cold starting, toyota pickup, fuel lines

Question
I have a 1986 toyota pickup 2.4L, 2BBL, manual transmission. 270,000 body, 10,000 rebuilt motor, almost every component new, except (i think carb). She starts every time when hot but not when cold. I manually add gas to carb and she starts. I changed plugs, fuel filter, checked fuel pump (im assuming the fuel lines are ok because the fuel pump works well). I replaced the accelerater pump but still didn't help.  so i think im gonna put in a rebuilt carb. Any thoughts? thanks, gerry

Answer
That may be the best solution, have you checked the choke plate to see if it closes when the engine is cold and pressing the accelerator fully one time, if the plate doesn't close then there is the problem, most of the time the choke can be freed up using a checmical spray cleaner and moving the plate until it frees up.
