Toyota Repair: Short in door wiring loom, wiring loom, power locks

Question
'91 Camry (3s). The "overly complicated" automatic seatbelt for the driver
started to stop at various points when opening. I quickly noticed and assume
that the problem lies in the wiring harness in that door jam: only when the
door is fully open there are problems, the power locks start activating (while
the switch won't work). Close the door a bit, and the gremlins go away.

How should I tackle this-take the door apart and work inward? Is it going to
be a nightmare trying to get in behind the wiring block where the harness
enters the car?

Thanks-I had to wait a long time to get in!

Answer
I would remove the door panel and identify the wires by their color coding first, then remove the lower kick panel cover and match the wires to the connector on the junction block then it's just a simple matter of checking continuity from one end of the wire harness to the other to find the broken wires.
