Toyota Repair: 1999 toyota solara, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
QUESTION: I had a thread going about my sle v6 solara, told me too many follow ups.  I haven't had the car for very long so I'm not sure when the timing belt was changed but it has over 126,000 miles on it and on visual inspection the timing belt looks good.  Is the engine an interference engine?
Is there any other test I can do to be more certain about the coil problem, and how would that be fixed?

ANSWER: I don't htink you talked to me before, at least I didn't tell you that you had too many follow ups, I very rarely if ever do that. The engine is not an interference engine, the timing belt should be replaced at 90K intervals. What is the coil problem you are referring to, what is the problem with the car, is the check engine light on and what trouble codes do you have?

QUESTION: there is no check engine light, you didn't tell me I had too many follow ups
the system did, I've replaced the spark plugs and wires and the mass air flow
sensor with no success, u said there may be a pending code due to an
intermittent problem, but the auto zone scanner found nothing.  You thought it
could be a coil.

ANSWER: A coil failure or any misfire will turn the check engine light on so I don't think that's the problem. Can you tell me what exactly is the problem with the car now, what are the synptoms?

QUESTION: when I drive around 40 mph with little to no load on the engine it seems to miss, loses power just for an instant then regains it, it does this quickly and sporadically as long as I drive at the same speed, the car also sometimes surges when just coasting with little to no gas at very low speeds, like in parking lots.

Answer
Check the coil resistances, remove the three coils and measure the resistances across the electrical connectors, measure from the electrical connectors to the high tension terminal and at the spark plug end, compare the readings to one another, the coil that has a different resistance reading is the one that is having the problem.
