Toyota Repair: 98 4 runner door lock/security system fault, key light, dome light

Question
The electric door locks no longer can be locked from the inside with the key inserted (they pop right back up).  The security system cannot be used.  It appears the car thinks a door (passenger front?) is open.  As a relult the glow around the ingition key never goes off nor does the dome light (if they are on auto-off) when the doors are closed.

This apparently occured after the seat belt got caught while closing the passenger door, -- 2 slams.

I thought removing power might help (reboot~~) but did not when the battery went dead after 3 weeks of non-use I suspect due to the key light.

Can you give any direction?

Thanks so much for your time

Answer
Whatever door it was that the seatbelt got cought in is where the problem is, it sounds like the door is not closing enough to turn the switch off that turns the dome lights etc off, check this switch, it's located on the side of the door jamb and has a rubber cover on it, depress the switch by hand and see if the dome light goes off, you are correct, the problem is because the theft deterrent computer sees that there is a door still open and the remote won't work.
