Toyota Repair: 1999 Camry-Check Engine Code P0401+, hand vacuum pump, toyota camry

Question
I have a 1999 toyota camry, 4 cylinder. Scan by mech found trouble code P0401, EGR flow Insufficient, P1780 Manufactured Control transmission. What do they mean? When I went Autozone I was able to turn check light off and is currently not on. What should I do? Can I fix it?

Answer
Gilbert,
The first thing I want you to do is check all vacuum hoses connected
to the EGR and components, make sure you check each entire hose
from one end to the other. Its easy to check the EGR valve with a
hand vacuum pump. If the EGR valve is ok then you must check the VSV
circuit, all wires and connections of these components and the MAP sensor. Go to Chilton repair manual # 68201 page 6-29 and go through
elimination steps.
