Toyota Repair: tail and break light problem., side marker, pull switch

Question
Hello Ted,
I bought a well used '79 3/4 ton Toyota Pickup.
The head lights didn't work and it had a toggle switch wired in for them.  I wired in a "Tractor" type of pull switch for that and after finding that the tail lights didn't work either I ran a wire all the way back to the green wire for the license plate light and it seems more normal and the tail lights work.  (after all that the original head light switch now works too).
Any way the problem is that if I step on the break with the head/tail lights on the right tail light goes out.  But if the head lights aren't on the break lights work correctly.

And the hazard lights don't work but if I turn the switch on the turn signals don't work then.

It had a sever oil leak at the front main seal but I added a sleeve to the harmonic balancer and that's fixed too.

Please help.

Thanks
Lee

Answer
Check all the tail light/turn signal and front side marker or parking lights, there may be an icorrect bulb installed in one of the sockets, make sure the bulb contacts match the bulbs, look for any socket contacts that may look burned or overheated and checl the ground wires at the rear.
