Toyota Repair: Camry V6 Conquest auto 1998 160,000 km, vehicle speed sensor, camry v6

QUESTION: The engine service light is on. Cold start and the engine idle speed is too high at 1400 rpm. Idle speed OK when hot. Steering rack boots replaced recently, seemed OK before that although my wife drives vehicle more than I do. Vehicle has been regulary serviced by Toyota dealers.

ANSWER: I need to know the diagnostic trouble code(DTC) number in order to start helping>

QUESTION: After discovering the method of code retrieval codes 42 and 21 are displayed via the engine warning light. Could something have been dislodged when the rack boots were replaced. I'm sure the problem did not exist prior.

The code 21 is a main oxygen sensor failure code, it may have been disconnected during the repair, there are two O2 sensors before the cat converters one on each cylinder bank in the exhaust manifold. The 42 code is a vehicle speed sensor code, this could also have been disconnected, if none of the connectors are off  and there a no wires damged then the systems need to be diagnosed using the repair manual precedures.
