Toyota Repair: 1998 Camry LH Drive Axle Removal, haynes repair manual, haynes manual

Question
I am in the process of replacing the clutch on my 98 Toyota Camry. This car is a 4 cylinder with a five speed manual transmission. I have successfully removed the RH Driveshaft, and I have the left wheel separated from the outer LH Driveshaft. The problem I'm having is pulling the LH Driveshaft out of the differential. The Haynes repair manual simply says to pry it out carefully using a screwdriver or crow bar. I used a screwdriver with a cheater and I still could not get it to budge.
Is this the right way to do this? Is there a better way to do this.
My fear is that if I try too hard to force it, I'll break something.
I'll appreciate any guidance you can give me.

Answer
Yes the haynes manual is correct, the axles can be pried out, there is only a thin round snapring on the end which will compress under pressure and the axle will come out, try rotating the axle to different positions and then prying on the inner cv joint with two large prybars.
