Toyota Repair: Toyota Corolla DX 1993 1.8 leter, toyota corolla dx, toyota corolla

Question
Tim,
My Corolla fails to start. Here is what I know to save time.
1) I replaced the fuel pump and filter.
2) I have the 40 psi at the ful rail.
3) I have a good spark, it will run for a few seconds on starting fluid.
4) Once in a while it will start up for about 5 seconds then shut off.
5) This is not my area of experties but I think the controling unit that tells each injector to open is not sending those commands. Maybe its the ECM or some other device that supplies power to each injector.
6) The car was running good then shut down with out warning and hasn't ran since.
Please help and advice on what els I can try.
Thank you very much for your time in this matter

Answer
Hi Ira,
Lets see if I can help. Normally Toyotas don't have
fuel pump problems. Please tell me how you checked spark?
Have you checked to see if your getting voltage to the injectors?
Have you checked the EFI fuse and relay? If you have a vehicle stethoscope (not a doctors one), have someone turn the engine over as stethoscope is on injector, listen for click, no click, no current. If no stethoscope, place finger on one of the injectors while turnover and you will feel click.
There are a couple of sensors that could cause this problem, we'll
talk about them later. Let me know.
