Toyota Repair: Timing Light and Tach, actron, timing lights

Question
QUESTION: Hello Ted. I have an older Camry, a 1995 with about 150K miles. I am thinking of investing in a timing light for it and a tach for setting the timing. What brands of timing lights do you recommend? What tachometer do you recommend that will connect into the data link ports under the hood?

Thank you!

ANSWER: There are timing lights available that have a tach built in and I would recommend one of those, they have digital display of the rpm and also display the timing readings, check with Sears or any of the major autoparts outlets like Autozone, Kragen etc.

QUESTION: Hi Ted! Thanks for the advice above. I checked with Autozone and found an Actron CP7529 http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16315

Next I checked out Advanced Auto Parts via Kragen and they offered the Equus 3568
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=EQU&MfrPartNumber=3568&Ca

Which one do you feel is better, the Actron or Equus and why is one better than the other?

Many thanks to you Ted!

Sincerely,

Mike

Answer
I have no experience with either one of them, as long as they both the features I mentioned earlier, the choice is yours, the Actron looks really nice, I tried to look at the parts america one but it didn't link directly to the product. For the price, the actron light looks like a real good investment.
