Toyota Repair: 2002 toyota solara, air control valve, toyota solara

Question
I have a 2002 toyota solara with the 2.4l. When I start it up it idles fine then it lowers down to 500-600, and with the a/c on it goes down to around 300. What can I do; is it the a/c compressor going bad.

Answer
Idle problems are common on these engines, in most cases replacing the idle air control valve located on the throttle body resolves this issue, the throttle body has to be removed from the intake chamber, it should be cleaned of all carbon deposits while it is off and the IAC valve is replaced.
