Toyota Repair: 99 4Runner SE hesitate to start, air control valve, carbon deposits

Question
Once a while it hesitate to start (cold/warm don't matter). It will turn over, starts, then dies or just cranks away. If I press the gas when it's started, it keep it going then it's back to normal where it starts normal.

This happened few times so any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Possibly an idle air control valve issue, the throttle body should be removed then the IAC valve from the throttle body, the t/body can be cleaned on the inside with a brush and some air intake cleaner available at the autoparts store, the IAC valve can also be cleaned of all the black carbon deposits that cause it to hang up which causes stalling and hard starting problems.
