Toyota Repair: Serpentine Belt, serpentine belt, timing belt replacement

Question
How often should you change the serpentine belt on a 1999 Toyota Avalon?

thanks,
John

Answer
They normally last about 60,000 miles but since time is also a factor I would replace it at 4-5 year intervals. The timing belt is replaced at 90,000 miles, again, time is also a factor and it should be replaced at 6year intervals or 90K whichever comes first, I would check the serpentine belt at 60K and if it's good and has no cracks then you can wait until the timing belt replacement and have it all done at the same time.
