Toyota Repair: check engine light, toyota corolla 1995, toyota corolla

Question
I recently bought a toyota corolla 1995, and it has the check engine light on,
how can I know what the problem is?. Can this be a problem due to spark plugs
wires?

You will have to connect a diagnostic scantool connected to the car's computer to retreive the code, most dealers and repair shops will charge a diagnostic fee but some of the larger autoparts chain stores(autozone, kragen etc) will get the codes for you at no charge, once the codes are known you can post a follow up and I can help.
