Toyota Repair: Gear Shift Light & above L Heat Seater panel Light, merry christmas mary, tow truck driver
QuestionQUESTION: Recently I had a dead battery the Toyota service I use in recommeded a Wrecker Service for tow/jump so I could get to them for a battery. The wrecker person did something around the gear shift to enable him to put the vehicle in neutral and jump start it. I drove to Toyota got a new battery and drove off. Then I noticed this evening than my gear light and the light which is on the seat warmer of the left side is not lit up. I did not notice it during the day. On the right side the heat seat which is straight across from the left is lit up. Could the nonfunction lights be a blown fuse or something else?Could the battery change or the wrecker service person missing around the gear shift to put the vehicle in neutral cause electrical problem? Mechanically Challenged. Your help is greatly appreciated. Any words of wisdom for me to forward to Toyota tomorrow would be helpful. Thanks soo much! Merry Christmas, Mary
ANSWER: What the tow truck driver did is remove the cover in front of the shifter to manually get it out of the park position so the car could be moved but if it was jump started the doing so would allow the shifter to be moved so I'm a little confused but in any case I don't think that changing the battery or overriding the shift interlock would cause the present problem, by the way, what model and year toyota is it?

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply. It's a 2001. They recently repaired the light in the gear shift but not in the heat seat light. I think it was an oversight but they seem to think it was amp thing? Any thoughts? Thanks Again, Mechanically Challenged.
AnswerThe light in the seat heater is part of the switch, both heaters are on the same fuse so I would think that the switch may need to be replaced, a quick check would be just to swap the switches, they are identical then see if it works, if it does then the other switch is bad
