Toyota Repair: 2001 Toyota Highlander - OBD2 socket, charcoal canister, toyota highlander

Question
My engine check light is on.  Gas cap is ok. I want to go to Autozone and plug in their OBD2 diagnostic tool.  Where is the socket located that I plug in to?
Thank you.

Answer
hi george, the obd2 connector is located in the knee bolster on the driver side, you might have to get down on
the floor and look up to see it.  its a white connector with a black cap on it.  just fyi, a lot of times when the check engine light has come on on that model, its due to someone changing/checking the air filter and a rubber evap line is disconnected on the rear of the box.  the line is the purge hose from the charcoal canister and can slip off the valve without much pulling effort on the air cleaner box.  i think it sets a p0401 code.  if you remove the 'efi' fuse from the underhood junction block for a few minutes (with the engine off), the memory in the ecu will reset.
