Toyota Repair: Cam / Crank timing, remanufactured engine, sprocket

Question
I bought a remanufactured engine. I have had overheating problems.
My warranty is gone.
A mechanic said it was my head and replaced it.
I noticed the cam and crank off about 5 degrees.
It was the same as the replaced head.
I believe the block was decked.
I bought an adjustable cam sprocket, Before I replace it and have it adjusted for topp-dead-center. Could being off cause overheating?

Answer
Hi Mark, my answer is no.
with all my respect
if you like working on engines
I would saggest that you get a book and lern about it. Do not get
repair manual for your car. just a jeneral studies book that explains how the systems are functioning. you can get it from book store at any colleage bookstore.
