Toyota Repair: Toyota 1993 Camry A/C seals repair, r 134 freon, fairfield county ct

Question
'93 Camry LE (new A/C compressor last year) abruptly lost an new $80 charge of freon in two days. Mechanic (unknowledgeable in A/C) checked freon level to be sure & believes one or more seals are leaking. Q: Is it most likely leaking seals?  If so, how much should an expert evaluation and then repair/replacement of seals cost? We're in Fairfield County, CT. If not leaky seals, then what?

Answer
Yes it could be seals but I have no way of determining that, it's obvious that the freon went somewhere into the atmosphere, I would advise having someone else that actually knows how to diagnose a/c problems look at it so you don't waste your money on a repair that may not fix the problem, I would also recommend converting the a/c system from the R-12 refrigerant to the R-134 freon that has been in use since 1994, the 134 freon costs about half as much as the R-12, it's easy to change it over all that is required is a retrofit kit available at most autoparts stores, you can do it yourself by following the instructions.
