Toyota Repair: Air Filters for 2006 Avalon and Highlander, cabin air filters, cabin filter

Question
I have a 2006 Avalon XL and a 2006 2WD Highlander LTD.   These vehicles both have air filters (for the engine) and cabin air filters. These are on extended leases and both are approaching 20K miles.   I have two questions pertaining to each vehicle. (1)  Should I purchase the extended life filters (KN) for both functions or stay with the paper ones?  (2) How do I change these filters on both vehicles?

Answer
I would recommend keeping the OEM air filters and replace them every 15,000 miles, the cabin air filters are located directly behind the glove compartment, undo the small damper on the right side of the glove box and squeeze the sides of the glove box to let it drop down pull the glove box down and then out, it will release from the dash or you can just drop it down far enough to get the cover off for the cabin filter and pull it out.
