Toyota Repair: 1989Toyota Camry transmission, 1989 toyota camry, high gears

I just bought an 1989 toyota camry. i was starting to have problems with it going into high gears, past 35mph. had transmission fluid changed, but not flushed. is my transmission going out or is it something else? help?

According to what you are describing I am inclined to believe that, yes, your transmission is beginning to fail. One thing I will recommend is try to locate a red bottle of LUBEGAURD. It is a transmission additive. Add it to your regular transmission fluid and drive your car very gingerly over the course of a week. Don't put excessive torque on the engine or transmission. After a week if things do not improve a little I would suggest you start budgeting for a replacement transmission.
