my brother owns the vehicle i kinda work on it, but he's had alot of trouble lately with the engine cutting out at 40mph i changed only half the spark plugs i found one cracked front cylinder drivers side it help for about a day. i don't know how to get the other side done... do you have to remove the whole air intake for the passenger side

No the intake does not have to be removed, the ignition coils are on that side. just remove the 10mm bolts that connect the coils and disconnect the electrical connectors and the coils pull out, I find it easier to remove the passenger side plugs than the driver's side, are you sure it's a 1996 5VZ-FE engine?
