Toyota Repair: 1994 camry /trunk, horizontal position, vertical position

my trunk will not open with the key or the trunk latch?  also the lock is in the horizontal position and it is supposed to be in the vertical position? I am also using the right key.  please help, thanks a bunch!!!!

Since it can't be opened with either one there must be a problem with the latch itself, it won't release. If the rear seat back can be folded down there may be access to the latch by removing the carpet covers and then manually try to move the retaining latch, this can be difficult unless you know exactly what lever to move so it's mainly trial and error until the right part of the lock release is moved to open the trunk.
